Rachel Nicks grew up in Oakland, CA. She is a certified Hatha yoga, barre, TRX, kettlebell, Pilates, prenatal and postpartum fitness instructor, a Nike trainer, in addition to being a certified DONA doula. Her initial training was a 500 hour Hatha Yoga certification. When she began teaching yoga she felt that she had unlocked Pandora’s box. She began to continue her education in fitness so that she could have an array of tool boxes to pull from when she was training her clients and teaching classes.
Nicks has been working in the wellness industry for the past five years in New York City. Nicks is a graduate of The Juilliard School, that experience has taught her to influence her clients to not only move, but to be present in your body and actually enjoy movement. Nicks is an actor with roles on network shows and on stage including: Life Support, The Affair, Nurse Jackie, Grey’s Anatomy and And I and Silence. She has always been passionate about affecting change in her community and as a member of The New York Junior League, Rachel dedicates her time to giving back to her local community.
Her mother Denise, a special education teacher, strongly influenced her and taught her to “never judge, accept people for who they are and where they are in their journey and to do my best with a smile and a positive attitude.” Rachel is all about keeping her students safe and successful. She believes fitness is spiritual. “We must love the inside of ourselves before we can ever love the outside. Let’s move. Let’s create change.” To find out more about Rachel check out her website RachelNicks.com
